Hill College’s Executive Director of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Kevin Rocha receives promotion after two years of service

After two years as Executive Director of Information Technology & Learning Innovation & Chief Information Officer (CIO), Hill College is pleased to announce that Kevin Rocha has been promoted to Vice President of IT & Learning Innovation/CIO.
Rocha joined Hill College in 2023 from the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT, Dallas), where he served as the CIO and Director of Esports for nearly five years. Prior to that he was the Director of Information Technology at UNT, Dallas. Before moving to UNT, Dallas, Rocha spent nearly 20 years at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, in various roles.
“I am thrilled to be asked to step into the role of Vice President of Information Technology & Learning Innovation/Chief Information Officer at Hill College. In this elevated position, I am committed to driving strategic advancements that integrate cutting-edge technology with innovative learning practices to enhance the overall educational experience here at our college,” Rocha said.
With Learning Innovation now under his oversight, including Hill College's libraries and Educational Technology Services (ETS), he is looking forward to continuing the excellent work being done with our Learning Management System, Brightspace, to better support faculty in delivering dynamic courses and empower students with seamless access to tools that foster academic success.
“By bridging IT infrastructure with these vital learning services, we look to cultivate a collaborative, efficient, and forward-thinking environment that positions Hill College at the forefront of educational excellence,” said Rocha.
Since his time at Hill College, Rocha has overseen the overhaul of the college’s IT infrastructure, improving service to staff, faculty, and students, as well as significantly increasing the institution’s cybersecurity protections.
Under his direction, the college has also launched a successful Esports Program and is a member of the National Association of College Esports (NACE). Entering its second year, the program is flourishing, with the team winning the NACE Rocket League Regional Championships last year.
Rocha has brought a wealth of experience to the college as a professional dedicated to serving his community and encouraging an environment of progress and open communication. In addition to his expertise in IT and Esports, he brings his 30-plus years of experience working with higher education institutions.
The administration looks forward to the continued leadership and direction Rocha will bring to this position and the college.
